$500 for a lab work???

I'm assuming that includes the office visit (specialist), routine venipuncture charge, materials, reagents, etc.? Did you have a whole thyroid panel? Are you insured?

A complete thyroid panel can cost over $700 without insurance coverage.

I had a lab workup about 2 years ago that cost me about 500 bucks after everything was said and done. Well it was more but I had a 500 dollar deductible that I had to pay and that more than put me over it.

My suggestion is to forward that bill right back to your insurance company. Most insurance companies will often send you these bills so the consumer thinks they have to pay for it when more than likely... the cost is covered. I had a FSH and LH bill that was for $500+ dollars. I sent it to my insurance company. Received another bill. Sent it RIGHT back to my insurance company. And they paid for it, like they're supposed to. Insurance companies will try to screw you in anyway they can. Just read your benefits. =)

i had a bill for $35 and when i called the business office to protest it because it was suppose to be paid in full i had a terrible time with that clerk..she said look at how much was paid and you only have

$35. yes, but it was my $35 and it was not like they were going to out any money it was just some paper work and that was what they were being paid for

My first prenatal panel (G3, P2) was over a grand. Included were Rh factor (unlikely to change, I'm guessing); Rubella titer (ditto); and ABO typing (hmm). Somehow it doesn't surprise me in the least that a thyroid panel could cost that much, though it ticks me off no end.
