I feel for you. We have yet to have computerized charting, but we have been told it is coming. Hopefully it will soon become easier for everyone.

did you have any inservices or opportunity "to play" with the system prior to it going live?? If not....shame on your nursing education dept!!! Once you get used to it, it really isn't bad.

I have gone through the switch from paper to computers twice and I can honestly say that it is horrible in the beginning, but give it a little time and you will find your days a little easier.
Good luck!

We're going to be making the transition sometime in the new year. I'm really not looking forward to it, especially since we just went through the transition to the Smart Pump from our old, very basic volumetric pumps. If the education process for the computer charting, which will be considerably more complex than the pumps, is managed in any manner close to the pump training, we're all in deep doodoo.

GIve it a few weeks. We switched at start of Fall and literally with in 2 weeks it seems as we have done it all along..
Just remember Patient 1st, computer 2nd. There will always be time to get what you need in the system, dont let the "system" hold you back from patient care.

Our system is piloting a computerized charting system at one of the smaller hospitals...it was supposedly going so very well, everyone loved it, blah blah blah (according to administration at least). It was supposed to go live system wide in August, but for some reason it has been indefinitely delayed due to "user issues". Personally, I think that means it's going to suck hard core when we all get it. I'm just glad I'm not at the facility they're piloting it at!
