Just a quick question...

How often is the NCLEX given? Several times a year, a month...??? I am just curious. I don't take it for about a year and a half, but I am starting to think about it now.

It's not a scheduled exam like that - the boards used to be years ago when it was all on paper, but since it's been on the computer it is individually scheduled. Usually it's at a computer learning center or something like that (I took mine at a Sylvan learning center) and there are usually quite a few locations available if you live in a larger city. You call and schedule an appointment, and you take the test independently in a room full of computers.

Specializes in Education, Administration, Magnet.

Here in north Texas they have set dates for the exams. They are taken in a big room with a lot of people together. They have a set number of students that can take it on that one day. Here you have to go through 2 finger printings before they even let you in the room. I guess they just want to make sure it is really you who is taking the NCLEX.

As Kiyatylese alluded it, it varies on your state. The NCLEX RN is given through a company called Pearson-Vue. You can check out their website for more information on what is done in your state.

I believe the address is http://www.pearsonvue.com - someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Good luck!
