Just Applied to EC

Published

Hi all. I am a new member to Allnurses.com and last week I applied to EC. I am from the NYC, NJ area and was wondering if there are any study support groups around. Also any ideas on which study guides , books to start looking at to get a jump start on. Thanks for any help.

Welcome. This is the only support group Ive used so far. My study materials were-fundamentals, med surg, saunders nclex review, and studygroup101

Good luck with the program. Type in "Excelsior College" on ebay and a page of study help materials will come up, mostly studygroup101 and lisaarends. You should start with basic texts, preferably the ones Excelsior recommends. If you don't want to buy texts new, you can always rent or check them out from libraries for free. There is also material in the files sections of the various yahoo excelsior nursing groups, these files are free.

welcome to an. i am from nj as well getting ready to take the cpne (ny) next month. i used sg101 notes, saunders nclex-rn comprehensive review, and my lpn books for the nursing exams. this website is the one that helped me tremendously from the beginning and now to cpne. the people here are really nice. the moderator lunahrn is also very knowledgeable about ec. you should read her cpne journal. i joined some yahoo groups but didn't really use it due to so many people asking questions and could not keep track which one is which. good luck!

I used my LPN texts and Studygroup101. SG101 raised my grades from Bs to As. I would also track down older versions of textbooks. I used internet searches to research some stuff. Take the practice tests that EC offers, they are worth their weight in gold. The only specific text I had to buy was the care plan book, which you use for the FCCA and the CPNE.

Thank you everyone for the advice. Im going to look on ebay today.
