Just accepted!!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I was just accepted into an ADN program. I am very excited and hoping for some useful information about how I can prepare. I remember another student in my micro class saying she was told to read the beginning of NCLEX prep book. Does that make sense? Anyway, look forward to any suggestions! I start in January! SOOOOO EXCITED!!:D

Specializes in CDI Supervisor; Formerly NICU.

I've found the Mosby Comprehensive Review of Nursing for the NCLEX-RN Examination book, as well as the more expensive Hesi review book to be very helpful as the semesters have moved along.

Also, one of the things that I've noticed a lot of students having trouble with, in class and on here, is fluid/electrolytes/arterial blood gases. You might want to familiarize yourself with them. Lots of posts on this forum about them. Try searching for them.

In addition, one of the more difficult subjects you'll encounter early in your program will be the cardiac system. Study up on blood flow/circulation/anatomy of the heart.

Good luck in school. I'm hoping to get an internship in Austin with Seton when I graduate in May 2009. :)

Well, you will probably find lots and lots of suggestions on books to read and review. I would suggest going to the library to look the NCLEX review books they have. Look at the format of each book even if it is an older edition. This will help you find a book that suits your style. Also see what your teacher suggests. If you are a computer person, then you can use this site helpful.

:yeah:CONGRATS TO YOU!!!!!!:smokin:

Thank you for all the great information!:nuke:

First off congratulations!!! :yeah:There is nothing better than finally getting an acceptance into a nursing program! I understand how you feel right now. I was accepted into my local nursign program in April of this year. (The wait was horrible, and my mailman hates me!!):angryfire

As far as NCLEX books are concerned, get as many as you can right now. They will get you used to the style of questions for your program. Those books are not just for the final NCLEX, they are for now. Go to your local book store (Hastings is good) and find the section, grab all of the NCLEX books they have and look through all of them. Find ones that have rationales in the back. You will find the ones you like. Mind you, they can get a little expensive. :bluecry1: The one I like is 70$. Ask for an NCLEX book for Christmas from your family (I did). Buy a book a month if you can. They are great study guides and once you get study groups formed, you can make questions right out of the book and you will become VERY popular among you peers. :bowingpurThe more questions you do, the better you'll do starting right now from test one in your local program.

Good luck and may you do well. :nurse:
