I was on the Oregon Board of Nursing page today and I saw that ITT Tech in Portland has been granted "initial approval" for an Associates in Nursing program!!! I called ITT to get more information, because it is not listed on their website for the Oregon campus, and haven't received any news back from them. Anyone know about ITT Tech's nursing programs in other states???

Ha-ha.... Oh great another nursing program in a flooded market for new grads.....
Oregon BSN, I agree! Although its great I have another school to potentially apply to, it seems like a lot of new schools are really taking advantage of a huge amount of people wanting to be a nurse!

I would stay away from ITT Tech. The nurses administrators and educators where I work do not think highly of the program and would not hire any nurses from there. Plus if you want to go on to a bachelor's or master's degree later, your ITT credits would not transfer and you would have to start from scratch. Just something to consider as you may want to advance your career later in life.

I agree with Maylisa. I have heard only negative things from professionals about ITT Tech.

I was considering ITT Tech as well but they are so new to oregon that it is going to be a long time before employers like OHSU will recognize them. I contacted OHSU to see if they would even allow for ITT tech grads to transfer their credits to get a bachelors and they said no.
I couldn't find anything online about the program in other states, no forums had anything good to say about the program and overall they charge roughly double what you would pay at Concordia or OHSU.
ITT tech also requires that you take the HESI or something like it, i was going to go to the information session but it was over 2 hours and it really shouldn't be that long. If the school reps can't tell me the tuition cost, will the credits transfer (in this case they don't) and so on then its just bs in my opinion.

:nurse:How can people say that Itt tech is not a good nursing program are how can companies say that they would not hire a nurse from the school when they have no graduates yet!!!!. Its a new program and they have to start from somewhere. They have a lot put into the program. People need to just give them a change. I go to the school and I love the program. The school was design for students tired of being on the waiting list of other nursing schools and so that people who need to work and go to school may do so. Until the numbers are in with the first graduating class and how many passes the boards...........lay up people!!!!

ITT's nursing program here in Oregon is new.
However, ITT Tech has a nationwide reputation that is less than stellar. Yes, ITT Tech opened a program up here because there's a lot of folks trying to get in to nursing programs....but they didn't do it out of the goodness of their heart, they are a for-profit school. That's what they opened for, profit.
I'm glad you're enjoying your program, and hope you continue to.
I just wish people would lay off the school, the nursing program may improve the schools reputation. I went to a different nursing program in the past and I really see no difference. The only difference is Itt is not as aggressive. For the moment, I am able to work, spend time with the kids and still bring home A's. Once the first class graduate it will be different.
I understand you wish it were different.....but with their rep, it's going to take more than one class of successful graduates to make a change to ITT Tech's reputation.
Again, I'm glad it's working out well for you.
Im glad its working out for me too. I guess everybodies entitle to their own opinions.
