I just enrolled in Excelsior College, and what I am wondering is...can I do the theory through Excelsior and the clinicals at a traditional college? Would they even transfer to a college?I'm very concerned about the CPNE and passing it since I have been working assisted living for quite a while now. ~Penny

Aug 18, 2008 Yes, thank you...but what I'm wondering is, is the theory part of Excelsior transferrable to other colleges so that I could finish up the nursing program elsewhere. Not graduate from Excelsor but another college.I guess I gotta get over my fear of the CPNE and get it done. Have faith in myself and my abilities / skills, huh

Aug 18, 2008 Transferability would depend on the school ... I would imagine most wouldn't take EC credits, though. You'd have to contact the potential schools and find out.

I know EC BSN tests are used as credit for several BSN programs out there, but the associate's degree part is a different ball of wax. If the thing holding you back is the CPNE, you will have plenty of time to prepare and set up a study lab at home. Many people go through EC and are rocking nurses. The stats are scary about the 60-something percent pass rate, but many, many people get through the CPNE eventually. It's just a hurdle--a big, expensive hurdle, but one that is worth a few bucks per working hour in the end.
