Is this a BAD idea?

I'm living with my mom and would love to fast track this as much as possible so I can get out of her hair.

Everyone on here understands that concept quite well! However, given that you received less then As in some of the courses that most people would tend to call easier (not necessarily easy), the load you are asking for will set you up to fail.

Read some of the posts on the board, where people asked the same question over the Summer. Many ignored our advise and doubled and tripled up on the science and math pre-reqs this Fall. Recently some have posted that he/she received a C, D, and/or F in those courses and will have to retake them in the Spring.

Thus, I suggest that you take your time if you can. Besides, you do not have a choice if you are attending a CC that weighs GPA heavily, like mine. On the other hand, if you are attending a CC that has a lottery, then I suppose GPA does not matter as long as you make the minimum. Good luck.

I can understand your "need for speed" but like MBA2BRN said, if your school weighs GPA heavily you will want to make sure that you have A's in those classes! You also have to take your little one into consideration. You will need lots of study time if you take all of those classes. I suggest that you take one science at a time and maybe some non science co-reqs if you are done with all non science pre-reqs.

I know this may start to sound a little like a skip in your favorite cd... but,,,,consider taking Anatomy and Physiology together (they are good buddies) and then take Micro. It will flow better for you in the long run from one experience to another. Just my thoughts, I do not mean to scare you at all! Good luck with everything!

I'd recommend taking only two big classes. They suck up more time than many other courses.

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and have to say I've found it very informative over the last few weeks.

I'm working on my pre-reqs to get into a nursing program at my local CC. Last semester I finished English, Sociology, psychology, and Spanish. I didn't make the decision to go into nursing until after Fall semester so unfortunately I didn't know to take the science pre-reqs. Good thing is in the long run I need those courses anyway.

Ok I'm getting off track. My question is would it be too much to take Anatomy, physiology AND microbiology in Spring semester? I have a two year old and am a single mother (with help from my mom), so study time can be hard to come by. However, I did well this semester (A's and B's).

Has anyone taken all three in one semester? Would you recommend it?

Oh the reason I'm thinking about taking all three at once is because we have a 1 1/2 year waiting list and I can't even apply until I get those three done. I'm living with my mom and would love to fast track this as much as possible so I can get out of her hair.

I hope its do able as I am going to attempt it in the spring as well. I am taking Micro and AP2

I have 3 kids a bit older then yours, I have a husband around but he travels during the week so my only study time is my 2 days off from school and and evenings after kids go to bed. I do schedule in my study time its the only time I get and I don't interupt it. My micro class will start at 11am and I will go to school at 8am and study for 3 hours twice a week. I will have mon and wed off from school and use my the 6 hours my kids are in school for AP and Micro depending on whats needed to be done. Also on Saturdays after AP it gets out at 2 the lab stays open till 5 and this past semester in AP 1 I stayed after and either studied in general or worked on lab assignments. I took Chem with AP 1 this past semester it was a lot of work and I worked all week long sacrificing all social activities pretty much but its important to make a schedule and stick to it. These classes require alot of study time but you can do it if you have help with your daughter.

Totally understand the wait and wanting to get things done so you can get on the wait very frustrating but the time goes by with or without you doing it good luck.

I wouldn't take all three together. Even if you could pull off passing grades, you still might not get into the nursing program if the grades aren't high enough (as compared with other students). I suggest one science class at a time if you are taking it with other courses. Or two science classes alone (without other classes).

Well this fall I was signed up for Medical Terminology, Math for Meds, Ethics, Chemistry, and A & P I. I didn't listen to the advice of others and found myself dropping A & P I. I wasn't struggling in the class, but I was having a hard time balancing the class load. I hate dropping classes because it makes me feel as if I've taken two steps backwards, but I was able to do well in my other classes. Fast and reckless doesn't always win the race.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I've taken your advice to heart and will stick with my first thoughts on it. I registered for Anatomy and Physiology and Human Development. I think it would be too much right now to take all three together and it would be heartbreaking to have to drop in the middle of the semester. I may just check out what this load will be like and drop the human development early on if I feel I need to focus more on the anat/physio.
