Interviews for Foreign RNs

ARgghhh!! I can't believe no foreign nurses here have had employment interviews and can help. I just found out my interview is scheduled in 3 days, and it's with

1. HR guy

2. Director of the clinical program

3. CRNP in the program

They said I should be available for THREE HOURS!!!

I currently have a senior executive job at a medical device company, but I have never had an interview go over an hour, or with a bunch of people. I am crapping myself now!

*any* help?

I didn't have a telephone interview, initially had a interview with HR whilst in the US doing NCLEX (this was before able to take outside US) they later backed out of a lot of foreign nurses and another hospital took me on but didn't do an interview but last December met someone from the new hospital but had already signed a contract with them

i was interviewed by the nursing recruiter and by the Assoc. director of nursing.....

Nursing recruiter questions and my answers

1. do you have CGFNS certificate? No, i dont have one

2. do you have a NY state RN license? Yes, i have

3. do you have working experience in your country? None

4. when did you graduate? 2005 and i took the local boards on the same year

5. what are your nursing skills? i mentioned every nursing skill that i know

6. are you married? how old are you? how far do you live? yes, 28 y/o, i live 50 minutes away

7. are you done with your english exams? yes, i did IELTS

8. what languages can you speak? fluent english and filipino. I am also conversational in chinese

9. do you think you would be an asset to this hospital? yes. i think so....(recruiter looked at me and said " dont think, do it" :uhoh21:

Thanks Jon. I guess that means their main concern is training up someone who will then leave. My case may be different in that it could be a working visa rather than a green card visa.

I am happy with interview questions, I just needed personal experience from other foreign trained nurses about things the interviewers were concerned about. :wink2: But thanks again!

Thanks Jon! I just had the interview and it went great. The main concern of the interviewers was the timeframe in which I'd be able to get my license and be available to them. The fact that I'd already worked in the program last year (temporarily) meant that they didn't ask me any questions about my work or personality at all. They did keep asking me what questions I had, so I was glad that I'd written down a bunch of them to ask!
