Well, heres the thing, I had a friend visit me at work, the supervisor saw this person and I was later called in. I had NEVER been in trouble before for anything, this was my first. I didn't know what I was doing wrong. Is this worth mentioning to a future employer if they ask me or should I not mention it?
If you resigned then you were not fired. You had a disagreement with your boss that you couldn't resolve. Honestly it sounds like there was more to it, maybe that you weren't aware of. If I was hiring you I would want to understand your reasoning. I wouldn't want to hire a flake who would quit at the first disagreement. You had a friend visit which was against policy and you weren't aware. If you were pressured to quit against your better judgement you might say in hindsight you wish you tried to work it out and will in the future. Good luck.
I wouldn't reveal why you left the previous job. I'd say something general about working closer to home, changed specialties, needed more hours... In this tough job economy, I feel like we don't have a lot of options and if you need the job, I'd avoid anything that would reduce your likelihood of getting that job.

I am a nurse with almost 2years experience. I recently lost my job (asked to resign) for a HIPPA violation. I was curious as to how to respond to the question "why did you leave your last position at.....?"
Do I tell the truth and be honest or do I say I want to go in a different direction with my field of nursing?
I'm also going back to school for my BSN.
I need some advice,
Thanks so much!
