  1. What about a doctor's office? I work in one now and they aren't bad at all!!
  2. Well, heres the thing, I had a friend visit me at work, the supervisor saw this person and I was later called in. I had NEVER been in trouble before for anything, this was my first. I didn't know what I was doing wrong. Is this worth mentioning to a future employer if they ask me or should I not mention it?
  3. I was always taught to offer yourself to the patient, sit and talk with them for example. My answer would never be "oh just go see your doctor for that". I know we can't diagnose and it may not be "postpartum depression", a patient may just need someone to talk to for a little while. Problem solved!
  4. I did learn from it, thank you so much for your advice!!
  5. I'm sure you meant "advice" and "response" but a nurse can come up with a compassionate response other than just telling them to go to the doctor.
  6. This is not very good advice! A nurse can come up with a better response than that....
  7. I do. I recently broke my right ankle and had to go to the ER. I told them I was a nurse because I was asking many questions. The nurses looked at me and wondered why I knew certain things so then I was forced to tell them I was a nurse. They actually helped me more and I got excellent care. I have not done this when I go to doctors offices though. I will tell them if I am asked "what do you do for a living?"
  8. I am a nurse with almost 2years experience. I recently lost my job (asked to resign) for a HIPPA violation. I was curious as to how to respond to the question "why did you leave your last position at.....?" Do I tell the truth and be honest or do I say I want to go in a different direction with my field of nursing? I'm also going back to school for my BSN. I need some advice, Thanks so much!
