Interview attire

I am looking for suggestions on what to wear to an anesthesia school interview. I am a woman in her 30's. Would you suggest a full business suit? nice dress pants and shirt? business skirt suit? I realize this might sound like a strange question but I am REALLY NERVOUS. Any help from those of you that have gone through this would be much appreciated. Thank you!

I wore a full suit head to toe, button up white blouse shirt. Got the whole thing like 60% off from Brooks Brothers. I felt great. The other girl at my group interview had on dress pants, a nice jacket (but not suit jacket if you know what I mean) and just a normal shirt underneath. To be honest, I thought she looked kind of sloppy. So I would def. go with a suit. Unless your in a ballroom gown, I don't think there's a chance of overdressing.

Business suit with pants or a skirt that goes down to your knees (no mid-thigh tight skirts that I have seen some people wear). It is better to be overdressed than underdressed.

You should dress as absolutely professionally as possible. Dress like you imagine someone at a Wall Street corporate job might dress. Pant suit or skirt suit (whichever you are most comfortable in) would be most appropriate. Just make sure it fits properly, not too big, long, small etc....

Present an air of professionality with your dress and demeanor. That is just my 2 cents. Even if you have to buy a new outfit, it is an investment in your future and you can wear it to multiple interviews if need be (I had 2 so I could wear my new suit to both).

Hope this helps.

You can never go wrong with a suit. It will set you apart if everyone else is casual. I would sugget investing in a well tailored suit that you are comfortable in. Business colors like navy blue, grey, or black. Wearing a skirt or pants is a matter of preference. Low cut heels is good, something you will not trip in .:p Last year I wore a black skirt suit with a royal blue coller shirt. Hope this helps and I wish you well with your interview.

Thank you all so much!!! I was leaning towards a pant suit (simply because I am more comfortable in pants then skirts) and wanted to be sure I was on the right track with my thinking. Thank you very much! I am going shopping Thursday to find just the right one. Hopefully I will get lucky with a 60% off bargain somewhere. Thanks again :)

Absolutely dress to the nines, but be prepared to change into scrubs during the interview. Every interview I went on included a tour. So something easy to get in and out of or they might offer you coveralls if you're wearing pants. Big heels might be troublesome with OR booties. Be prepared to tie your hair as well.

Definitely "full-scale" business dress (either pants or skirt, but definitely a suit). Comfortable, low-heeled or flat shoes. Conservative, low-key hair, makeup, and jewelry. This is not a situation in which you want to stand out for how you look.

Always better to be overdressed than underdressed (but I doubt you'll see too many people at the interviews in more casual attire). Best wishes for the interview! :balloons:

Macy's had a great sale last week when I went shopping for suits.

Just be yourself and put together something professional and fashionable as well. Remember, your physical outlook is part of the impression you are presenting. As you know, this may sometimes last longer.

I went to two different interviews and in both EVERYBODY (guys and gals) wore a suit, boy was I glad I had splurged one one too! I know if I had walked into a room full of suits and wasn't wearing one myself it would have temporarily knocked my confidence a little! Be yourself, be humble, and be honest!
