I am so cheap. After spending all this money for school, I'm boggling at paying $300 for a one-hour course, when I feel I've demonstrated my literacy skills by passing all my Excelsior courses ;p Does anybody know a way to get out of this? A free course, maybe? I guess I can suck it up and pay it, but after paying $1900 for the clinical etc etc, I just don't want to!

Here's a little info on a Penn Foster course:

Might be worth a try! :) Let us know if it works out.

I was told that there is NO WAY to get out of it. And I started out as a programmer.

Word to the wise. Just take it. It took me 2 days to finish. You just have to answer questions for 5 modules and print out everything and take the 50 question test. I know its costly but other other options require a moderator and I found it to be complicated. Another thing, the Information Literacy class is on a semester basis. So go ahead and sign up for it ASAP because you can only sign up for it every other month. Because I was resistive to sign up for it, I could have graduated January 20th but ended up Graduating February 20th because I had to wait 1 month to sign up for it.
Thanks, all. I'm just gonna work a couple extra days and pay for it, I reckon, I just resent it, hehe. I hate paying more for a crappy one hour bogus class than an RN test!
I agree, I felt the same way.
Luckily it was just an exam when I took it, I think $75.

Don't blame you at all. It took me all of 1.5 hours to complete it. It is just another money maker, but we started on this journey knowing it was going to cost. Keep telling yourself that it will all be worth it in the end.:angryfire

I agree that it's a money maker, but at least it's an easy one. It took me maybe a couple of hours to complete it - can't remember, so it wasn't at all bad. One of those things you just need to do in life.
