Infection control

Published

I took my nclex today ....had 265 questions . I tried the pvt trick and it send me to the credit card page . Bummed out but still hoping for the best . A friend of mine said if u fail right then they take away your GN license. I still have mine so still holding on to slim hope. I had a ton of infection control like airborne precaution and things like that and I know I didn't do well on those . Is there a book I can read detailed info on that? I also had a lot of pt teaching and side effects on psych meds . Once I receive my results on Sunday I will re register if I failed . I read hurst a couple times and the allnurses study guide . I liked the pneumonics they have for rembering infection control precautions but it didn't really have what is acceptable such as wearing mask , gown etc. I need help please! I also had like 14 select all that apply out of first 31 so I thought I was doing good . Any info will help thanks people !

I saw this in your other post....I am so sorry....many nurses fail NCLEX and have to brush themselves off and move on.....

I thought the Mnemonics on the All nurses study guide was extremely helpful. But you have to know what PPE to use for the different tier levels for it to be effective. Do you still have your Fundamentals Textbook? There's probably a section there for infection control and PPE and the different levels of Transmission Based Precautions.

Take a few days off and then get back up. You made it through nursing school, so you absolutely can conquer NCLEX as well.

Good luck!

thanks @esme 12

Yes I have my fundamentals book. I'll look through that and see what I can find . I also need to get that lacharity book too. How good is that book ?

Did you go over the Hurst Infection Control Materials on their 5th day materials (the ones available online; not in the book)? There is a great document that shows exactly what disease matches which precautions (standard, contact, airborne, droplet). I advise you to not just skim through those, because you will not be able to retain all that information by just reading or skimming through it....at this point, those material is really about memorization.

I'm sorry you got the credit card page. But I know you will do great your next time around!!! Just keep focused and remove yourself from all distractions. Take it day by day and don't over exhaust yourself with studying materials. Best of luck.

Yeah I know my material but i now know its not all about hurst I should've took a break when I was testing. THat made me restless . I just bought the lacharity book and I heard that is a must . I did have a lot of who should you see first and I know it was a guessing game there .

I didn't use it to review for NCLEX. Our instructor suggested that we get it for our last semester of nursing school - Advanced Med Surg and I used it for that class since we got hit with a lot of prioritization questions in that class. Its a good book to practice those types of questions.

What all do y'all think I should be studying ? I have hurst and lacharity I just ordered .
