In the application process

I am in the process of applying to WGU RN-BSN (with consideration of moving to RN to MSN).

I love the idea of a competency based program.

I have also applied to a few other RN to BSN programs, and will compare the credits needed and time/cost benefits.

Thanks for any advice anyone may want to offer!

I applied today, but I don't want to start until the Fall - August or September. I'm anxious to hear from someone.

Specializes in Nurse Leader specializing in Labor & Delivery.

Good luck! Lots of us have done the program, feel free to ask any questions!

I'm currently in the rn-msn track. Great program, great school, love, love, love it! Don't let the credits stop you, unlike other universities, even if you have to take a few classes over, you can move through them fairly quickly due to your previous knowledge set and add in newer classes to your term/semester at no additional cost!

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

Two time WGU grad (BSN and MSN) with ZERO complaints. I loved the competency-based model as well, and predict a lot more schools will be moving in this direction.

I also applied to American Sentinel, who told me today I would have to retake English, Psych, Sociology.....Why? Because I took them in a quarter system, and they don't "combine" classes.

Well, except for the nursing/sciences courses that they DO combine....

Umm, hello, I took a full year (3 quarters) of all of those classes so that I would not have this problem. 1 year of quarters is equal to 1 year of semesters.

Nope. They will not combine classes.

So American Sentinel is definately out. I had pretty much decided that anyway. But this sealed it!

They received my first transcript today. Two more to go. They were mailed either yesterday or today. So they should have those the beginning of the week. Then just wait for admission and transcript evaluation!

I think my enrollment counselor is getting sick of me already.

Same here, hoping for 8/1.

I had my first meeting with an enrollment counselor for BSN Pre-Licensing in Southern California. Just filled out my app and requested transcripts and starting to work on my nursing file. I can't wait get started. I am planning for January 1st 2014.

I wish everyone luck in getting in.
