IL CNA Classes?

Published

Hello

I'm in the process of applying for a RN program at my local community college (Rockford IL). I only need 1 class, my cna certification. Unfortunatly, this is a four hour class, 5 days a week x6 weeks. Since I work full time (until April) I can only attend night classes. The 2 cna classes offered at night (spring sem) have been filled.

Does anyone have a CNA directory/reference website for me? I'd like to find other places that teach a CNA class. I've viewed other college's websites, however; they are quite far from my location. My other option is to call all the local nursing homes and inquire. If I can avoid all the phone calls... great.

TIA

Call your local Red Cross. Some offer affordable classes. :)

The local city here offers them as adult education and they are free.

Have you tried Kishwaukee college? I don't know how far that is for you but I know some people from the Rockford area go there. I am expecting to be in their nursing program in Jan 07. The # is (815) 825-2086

Someone already posted links to Samland.

I took my CNA with them because it would have cost me a whole summer of paying a sitter to take the community college course. Also, taking it through Samland was way easier than what the college makes you do.

I took mine at their Bolingbrook location and it was done in 8 weekends. They have 5 week courses that are either evening or weekday times- 4 hours a day, 4 days a week. We did clinicals at Manorcare in Naperville, next to Edwards hospital. They also got us CPR certified. I think, Bolingbrook is the only one doing the weekend, but that may be changed by now. I would recommend going through a private company over the college to anyone because the class is easier and it does not take as much time.

Good luck.
