If you were me, what would you do?

Hi,

I'm just wondering what some of you guys think. I'm actually in waiting mode, 5 moths and counting, from my application to local hospitals here. I am growing impatient day by day.

I am a nurse with 1 1/2 years of volunteer experience in a public hospital. It's only primary though. Then, I became a part of the NARS program. I spent six months there. I have IELTS with at least 7 in each band due to expire next year. I am also an NCLEX-RN passer. I graduated with Latin honors. I didn't topped the NLE, but anyway, at least I'm an RN. Last and definitely the MOST, I am jobless.

Options:

1. Australia

2. New Zealand

3. Canada

4. UK

5. USA - very unlikely

6. Philippines - uhuh...

7. Japan

8. Singapore

Will truly appreciate what you guys think. Thanks.

Do you have any idea of the salary range for nurses in the occupational health setting there especially in the oil and gas industry?

That's true, lucky for the females. One option is to be an EMT (if it's your interest), there are lots of opportunity for emt's nowadays not just in Saudi but in other middle east countries nowadays.

I really dont have ideas regarding the salaries of occupational nurses. :-)

Really? What agency did they went to? I have 2 years experience but 1 1/2 of it is purely volunteer. I only had 6 months of paid experience thru the DOLE - NARS project.

Sent you a PM

if you wish to find a job try LTC Dept, actually my hospital is looking for more male and female nurses including nursing assistant, experience really does'nt matter, specially for ladies here at ASTOON HOSPITAL KSA.We are extending our care due to the demand of (ARAMCO)arab american comp.although this is a private hospital(tertiary) salary quit fare, workload?? you might find it very easy. hope to see you here! :nurse:
I'm assuming you haven't considered Middle East countries such as Dubai, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. The latter, I heard, just requires 1 year experience. If you just ignore those stereotyping rumors and prejudices about those countries, especially Saudi, then you'll do good. Try to apply directly at POEA.

yep!better!dont waste your time shanny...Check ASTOON HOSPITAL Dooh!is private..they are needing nurses.goodluck!

How can one apply adn how? thanks!

There is Saudization now, Saudi government wants to prioritize the male nurses they have to look after male patients. Saudi females dont really work, so they hire nurses from foreign countries. Last time I heard they have sent home a few number of male employees including nurses. SRO don't really hire male nurses anymore.

I was hired by SRO but I'm still waiting for my flight sched. Anyway,I applied as an emt, not as a nurse. They're really not accepting male nurses anymore but they're still hiring male RT's, Pharmacists, EMT's, doctors etc. I just don't understand why not nurses.

There are some hospitals that hire male nurses. Like I said before, I have male friends who are working as nurses there. One of them just left last April. Maybe in SRO they don't accept male applications but in other agencies they do

those positions mentioned are rare, though they do have opening for those mentioned from time to time.

Actually, just last year our hospital laid off several male employees including nurses, some med tech, PTs and rad tech. Everyone knows about saudization, I guess saudis especially the males start to realize they cant be spoiled by their own government forever so they start to get into the workforce. Some agencies may hire male nurses, but several job posts I have seen only hire female nurses.

Did they lay off paramedics and EMT's as well?

We don't have paramedics in our hospital, its a tertiary referral hospital.
