If you were me, what would you do?

Hi,

I'm just wondering what some of you guys think. I'm actually in waiting mode, 5 moths and counting, from my application to local hospitals here. I am growing impatient day by day.

I am a nurse with 1 1/2 years of volunteer experience in a public hospital. It's only primary though. Then, I became a part of the NARS program. I spent six months there. I have IELTS with at least 7 in each band due to expire next year. I am also an NCLEX-RN passer. I graduated with Latin honors. I didn't topped the NLE, but anyway, at least I'm an RN. Last and definitely the MOST, I am jobless.

Options:

1. Australia

2. New Zealand

3. Canada

4. UK

5. USA - very unlikely

6. Philippines - uhuh...

7. Japan

8. Singapore

Will truly appreciate what you guys think. Thanks.

I'm assuming you haven't considered Middle East countries such as Dubai, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. The latter, I heard, just requires 1 year experience. If you just ignore those stereotyping rumors and prejudices about those countries, especially Saudi, then you'll do good. Try to apply directly at POEA.

Nice suggestion. Easy way to have a career and financial growth.

yeah. that'd be a great day. only if i were a girl.

What's so wrong with being a guy? I have two male classmates who are working in Riyadh right now...and their salaries don't come cheap! :) After I've earned the required experience I'll try my luck there.

Really? What agency did they went to? I have 2 years experience but 1 1/2 of it is purely volunteer. I only had 6 months of paid experience thru the DOLE - NARS project.

What certificate did you get from dole? Is it an employment certificate or a certificate of completion?

At first they claimed an employment certificate will be issued. However, it's only a training certificate. Certificate of completion if I remember it right.

I agree, salaries of new nurses here in Saudi are competitive, with many benefits and privileges. You wouldnt think of leaving really (im in Jeddah). Sad thing is, you're a MALE and saudization is being implemented, which means, there is a slim chance that you will be hired because they will hire their own Saudi male nurses. But you can try what others have suggested. Best of luck. :-)

Has anyone here tried applying for an overseas job using that certificate?

I saw an ad before hiring nurses for I think Jordan and is exclusive for those who completed the NARS program (Batch 1).

Do you have any idea of the salary range for nurses in the occupational health setting there especially in the oil and gas industry?

That's true, lucky for the females. One option is to be an EMT (if it's your interest), there are lots of opportunity for emt's nowadays not just in Saudi but in other middle east countries nowadays.
