Moving to the Nursing Licensure with a Criminal History forum. Be advised that this is a moderated forum and all responses are reviewed before posted, so it may take a while for responses to appear.
To answer your question, BONs review criminal applicants on a case-by-case basis. Because of it, it often takes longer for a decision to be made regarding whether the applicant should be licensed. All she can really do right now is wait for the outcome...and IMO, should the BON ask her to appear to explain her criminal history, to have an attorney with her for that meeting. Remember that the BON is NOT the nurse's friend. They care more about licensing safe practicioners than they do about cutting reformed nurses a break.
Fair? Not always. But this is how it is.
The fact that they issued her an ATT is encouraging. However it in no way guarantees that they will license her once she passes...and yes, that is the other possibility: she may not have passed the exam.
Best of luck to her.
Now that she has taken the test, they are going to determine whether or not they want to license her. This process WILL most likely take months. Getting to sit for the NCLEX does not mean that they have decided to license her, some states have the applicant take the NCLEX first and then do an investigation. The amount of time that she waits will depend on how often her BON meets. Good luck.

My wife passed her nclex about a week ago and she still hasn't received her license from the board of nursing in North Carolina.. She is being to get a little scared that she not going to get them, she had a marijuana charge back in the year 2000 and a larceny charge back in 2000 also she afraid that the Board of Nursing are going to hold that against her.. Her class mates took their nclex passed and received their license in about 48 hours, she not doing to good now... Can someone give me any info on this matter I would greatly appreciate it......... Thanks
