I miss work

Published

I'm three weeks into maternity leave and I must say that I miss working. I love and adore my new baby boy but I'm bored to tears. It is not much to do in the winter with a baby and I don't have a lot friends/family near by to come visit me.The only plus is not having to go to work for the holidays this year.

Being a nurse is my lively hood. I've never been out of work this long. I actually miss my coworkers, patients, and the chaos at work. Hopefully these next 9 weeks will go by fast. However, once I return to work, I'm sure I'll be writing a thread titled " I miss maternity leave" (LOL).

Has anyone else ever felt like this? Or am I completely out of my mind?:***:

I have had three kids while working full time as a nurse and this happened to me with my first baby. I couldn't wait to get back to work and did when she was 3 weeks. With the other two (especially with the last one) I did not want to go back at all. Wait until you have more people demanding your time, you will be happy to do nothing!

I very much agree. If I had more kids than I'm sure I wouldn't be bored at all. Welp, I'm just glad I'm not the only way who felt this way. I'm trying to decide if I should email my boss to see if I can come back sooner. I'm getting cabin fever so bad.

I would at least wait until after the new year ;)

I agree!

While you are at home and slightly bored, how about accessing a few on-line classes?? You can stimulate your brain and still be home with the baby!!! You really do not want to go back early and I am sure you would regret it once you did. Enjoy this time off, yes, I know you can only do laundry so much, and clean so much etc. But this time to bond with your baby is very, very special and precious. Maybe you need to find a mother-baby group to join for socialization. This is a whole new world for you!!!
