I HATE my job... what to do, what to do?

Obviously, I hate my new job. I left my 1-9pm every other weekend, 3-4 day a week job assisted living job to go to a medical supply store to be a "clinical coordinator" What a bunch of crap-o-la. I was suppose to be working 8-5 Mon- Friday, on call every 5-6th weekend. I was ONLY suppose to be doing C-Pap and Bi-Pap equipment with some post-mastectommy (sp)fittings. My insurance was suppose to be 100% paid except for co-pay for DR. visits. Well come to find out our copay is $50 and if any labs or test are ordered we have a $3500 deductiable. Then when we are on call we get $50 but they do not pay mileage. I went on a 3hr round trip twice in one day and that $50 was to cover mileage\gas. The owner has a HORRIBLE temper, in the 6 wks I've been here he has flipped 2 desk and broke a glass door. My old job wants me back and I want them back... should I walk out or give a 2 week notice. I am so depressed about this job I can't even function after work. I take 2-3 hour naps after work, argue w\ my SO. Someone HELP please.

Thanks... Amanda

To me, it is simple: if the old one wants you back and you are miserable, I would leave. If you were not at this new place too long and don't think you would ever use their name as a reference, then, I'd probably not even give them the two week notice, although that's not the most considerate thing to do. Call your old job and ask them if they would allow you to come back after giving your current one a two week notice, and tell them that you are just trying to be fair by them. See what happens...but believe me, I would be running back to the old one if things are as crazy as you are saying...and would not look back.

Out of curiousity, what made you leave your old job?

I would offer to give two weeks notice. They may not take you up on it. Your supervisor's temper sounds right out of control. If you know that your other job will take you back, why not go back. I would love a 1 - 9 shift every other weekend.

If the owner has flipped two desks and broken a glass door, I would be in fear of my life...and give that as my primary reason for not giving notice on my resignation letter.

Get out of there....now! This guy sounds crazy!

I agree with the others. It isn't a safe situation and if you hate it that much, then I would just walk out the door. You can't use them as a reference after such a short time, so it doesn't matter if you don't give the 2 weeks.

You need to be happy with what you do!

I left my old job because I was up for a job as the Alzheimer director and our regional nurse put me in for it but our Executive director wouldn't give it to me simply because she didn't want to loose me on the assisted living side. She would never give me a good reason for not promoting me. She is now leaving and our DON has called me several times asking me to come back NOW. I think I'm just gonna leave. Thanks for the advice and keep it coming.

Thanks

Run - Don't walk! You deserve better! Even if you were going to use this employer for a reference, which I wouldn't, they don't seem like an operation with much, if any, integrity - and, in that case, what type of reference would they provide anyway.

Take care of yourself!

Please delete my original response, I was on the phone when I wrote it. The other posters are right. Your boss is nuts and unsafe. RUN.

I totally agree with others about running out the door fast! No one should be exposed to a situation like yours with a boss who is violent and destructive! Not to mention that you were not given accurate information prior to accepting the position.

The last thing I would be worrying about is giving a two week notice. When you are hired for a position there is a probation period, where the not only does the employer look you over, YOU are looking them over. If it does not work, you do NOT owe them a two week notice! You also felt the details you thought you accepted turned out not be what you actually received.

You decide the position is not working for you, you tell them that and you move on. This is not something you are going to put on your resume.

girl get out of there. He sounds crazy. IF he doesn't accept two week notice, better for you. YOUr SO and family doesn't need you all stressed out. Better to be somewhere where you know your boss won't throw a chair or desk at YOU! I am sorry but crazy people like that need help with their own anger management problems.

GO! Back to the old job.

Specializes in I think I've done it all.

Run Run very very fast back to your old job. I wouldn't give notice unless I had to wait a bit to go back to the old position, and then give that time as your notice. How frightening. Good luck to you and let us know what happens.
