I hate floor nursing!

So I've been a nurse a little over a year and I absolutely hate it. I'm physically and emotionally drained. I'm tired of the anxiety attacks before work, and feeling like a failure after. I really want to quit but I can't because I have a mortgage and bills to pay. Does anyone know of non bedside jobs that are more easier to handle. I would prefer insurance company nursing but it seems they want at least 3 years nursing experience. I just don't know what to do. Will anyone hire someone with 1 year of experience? I'm just trying to stick it out one more year in bedside but it's really hard. Please help!!

What is your area of speciality?

Have u considered OR nursing ? It can be rough but the good thing is many nurses migrate to the OR from the floors because it's much easier , one patient at a time and u may have one patient your entire shift depending how long the surgery lasts , also you don't have to do much for the patient since they're Asleep , you'll be charting and documenting something's on the computer and gettin sterile items for the surgical tech and /or surgeon . Every now and then you will have to place a foley or something small .. Think about it

Have you thought of research nursing? Most positions are not very physical. It's a lot of paper work, but some people like the schedule. It's M-F 9-5.

Also have you thought of seeing a counselor and or doctor about those anxiety attacks? There is no reason to suffer while you look for a new position and it can get worse if you try to wait it out. Good luck with everything.

Do you work med-surg, step-down, or telemetry? What are your ratios and charting requirements like? There are bedside specialties and/or hospitals that are more manageable. PM me and I will let you know of some good places to work.
