I'm in south central Texas, we have already been declared a disaster area and our hospital is on alert for evacuees again. Hope this is just premature hype and turns out to be a waste of time.....The A&M large animal clinic had to be converted to take people last time.....we are more prepared this time, hope it is not as bad as before. LUCK TO ALL 'YALL in the direct path.

Hey all...I'm from New Orleans. My school is shutting down until at least 9/2/08 (as of right now, until further notice/weather predictions).
I have 2 online classes, so I'm not worried about them. I don't know what they are going to do about my chemistry or ap2 lecture.. or worse, the lab components.
Any southerners around??
What are you doing?
I live in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, about an hour from the GoM. We've just been encouraged to make sure the school has a way to contact us in case it turns our direction. We just recently got hit by Dolly, but school was out for the summer when that one came.
Good luck to you all.
i hope that it does not hit y'all down there in new orleans ....if it hits the texas coast (depending on where it hits) i may have to leave and that is something i have never had to do. my housing structure cannot take consistent wind :watherthunderstormcfor a lengthy period of time and my intestines cannot take vomiting and diarrhea during that ordeal.....i must go to higher ground...be careful and stay safe. evacuate early....
