HPSP

I am wondering if anyone know what is the age limit to qualify for HPSP in the air force in nurse anesthesia for 2016-2017. I am having a real hard time searching for this information on the net especially since there are many conflicting information.

Welcome to Allnurses.com Inc. We have moved your thread to our Government / Military Nursing forum to elicit replies from those who will perhaps recognize the HPSP acronym and answer your question.

A friend just got accepted to this program. He isn't aware of an age limit. Obviously there must be one, but it's probably just as long as you can fulfill all your military requirement before age 60.

I don't know anesthesia specifically, but likely you qualify as long as you can pay back your time (i.e. as long as you are young enough to both enter the Air Force and serve the 3 or 4 years that the program requires. The mandatory federal retirement age is 62; I believe the max age for entry is 42 for active duty AF and 47 for guard.

The rules to these programs change all the time, therefore you really need at contact a health care recruiter to make sure. Use the 'find a recruiter' tool on the AF website and select 'healthcare professional.'

And keep this under your hat because once out everybody will want that good gubment job too.

That's why the rules keep changing.

Just curious if you've found out more information about the age or anything really. My original plans have always been to join as a Critical Care RN. Recently I've been exploring the idea to go to school for a Nurse Practitioner with a DNP. I'm concerned about the age. I'm 36 and I would be around 40 when graduating. Then I would not have any experience as a NP, but only RN experience.

Thanks in advance í ½í¸Š
