How many years of nursing experience did you have before you got into/apply to CRNA school ?

If you look at past posts the number of years of experience ALWAYS vary. It is not so much the years of experience, but what you learn while there. I worked for 1 year including new grad orientation in a med-surg ICU before applying and being accepted into school. Best wishes to you!

I read somewhere that the average RN has 5-10 years of total experience before going into CRNA school.
I cant remember where though!

I had one full year of ICU and ~7 months in the ER before I started school. ICU experience in my program ranged anwhere from 1 year to 20+ years, so I definitely agree that it's more about the experiences you get in the ICU than the actual length of time you're there. Good luck to you!!!!

personally 8 years MICU with a year of acute HD mixed in, but it varies greatly. I personally know someone that got in with less than a year if you take out 3 months of orientation (started out as a RNA in our unit) . So do your best to fulfill whatever the school you want to attend requires of its applicants. Pretty much a crap shoot as to what you need.

8 months at time of acceptance, 2 years before my program actually started. My experience was MICU at a huge urban trauma center.
