How many schools?

hello everyone, i have been lurking long enough, so i decided to post. my question is, how many schools did you apply to when applying to nursing school? the reason i am asking is we all know how competitive it is to get in nursing school. so, i thought since i am in a big metro area (atlanta) i would apply to a number of the schools. my other question is did you pay the application fee for each school you applied to? the cost of each school is between $45-$55. that is a lot of money and if i don't get in i won't be attending the school so i feel i am out a lot of money. i am finishing my last preq this fall, so i don't need to go to school for those. thanks

Brighten: did you have to pay all the application fees?

yes for the CSUs. the community college was free though.

You might qualify for a waiver but It really depends on your income. if you meet the requirement then you don't have to pay for the schools (for general admission). Applying to the NS is a different story though. Some schools charge money others don't -it varies so I would check up on that......think about it this way though: You are basically making an investment. I think it is worth it b/c u can't just have all your eggs in 1 basket(I don't even know if I used that saying right lol I just remember my counselor telling me that).

Check with community colleges, but not all of them are free. The one I will be applying to is $25. Cheaper than most, but still not free.

I just applied to one university and got in on the first try. :p

There was a $30 application fee for the nursing school. Students must also be admitted to the university prior to being accepted into the nursing program. The application fee for the university is $30, but they waive the online fee all the time and if you visit the school for a visit event they waive the fee. If you're smart you will only have to pay the nursing application fee (which covers the TEAS test). I say attend an information session if possible.

I decided to go this route because the community colleges have so many applicants. I am going to be attending a private Christian university so it costs more and has additional prerequisites. This makes the applicant pool smaller and gives students a better chance as long as they listen during advising.

I applied for two university programs as a transfer student. I didn't have to pay a fee for either school. One waived it since I was a transfer student coming in with a certain amount of credits, and the other didn't have a fee for doing the application online.

I did have one fee however for the school of nursing, which required $15.00 for a background check.

Also, as Brighten mentioned earlier a lot of colleges will waive application fees depending on income, so that might be something worth checking out.

3. I get one reply back mid-March which is very soon. Crap grades, never took the TEAS, crap essay. Lol.. I'll post when I get rejected or waitlisted. I really don't mind telling the world I failed.

My original plan was to apply to all the schools that I could. But, once I started going through the applications and looking at the different programs and saw how much it would cost to apply everywhere and then realized that I really didn't want to go to some of these programs; so I narrowed it down to the two programs I really wanted to attend.

I'm happy to say I got in both of them :D

Congrats! Have you decided on which one?

Oh sorry....I should have mentioned that this was a couple years ago, I'm finishing up the second year of my 3 year BS program. So, yes I did decide which one :-)

Truly, as soon as I got both, I knew which one I wanted. One was a really good CC program and the other was an amazing BS program, and I chose the latter.

3 schools, and I paid application fees at all schools. It was a one-time shot for me, if I had not gotten in that round I would not have re-applied but instead switched to plan B.
