1 semester. I got accepted at the end of Spring 2005 and I start of Fall 2005.

Specializes in Cardiac Care.

I applied this past October, interviewed in November, and received the acceptance letter just before Christmas. I'm taking a lab science now (Chemistry, not a pre-req, but a co-req just to get it done with so I don't have to take it in the fall), and then the nursing portion begins in September. It's a diploma program.

Specializes in PCU, ICU, PACU.

Depends on how long the waiting list is and how strict the requirements are.. also are you going for LPN or RN? The waiting list may not be shorter for the LPN but the requirements aren't as strict (IMO).

Specializes in NICU.

Three semesters on the waiting list at my CC. I didn't mind waiting because I still had classes to finish for general ed--although if I were given a choice, I would have chosen not to wait . I start classes for an ADN next month .

My CC won't accept anyone for the Nursing program if theri pre-reqs aren't completed. They usually accept in January for the fall, that's when I was accepted-I finished my pre-reqs (Micro) in the spring and started in August. They have a weekend/evening program now that they accept for in fall, and start in December.

Applied 12/03...Starting 8/05 (ADN program).

The wait was very frustrating, but in the meantime I also finished all of the prereqs for the RN to MSN program I plan to do later.

Specializes in Home Health.

I applied in July of 2003 and I will be starting in Sept. of 2005. In the meantime, I finished all the required courses besides the nursing classes except for one Humanities elective which I will be taking next summer. Having all of the "extras" done will lighten the load. :) I should add that I was on the waiting list for this year also, but enough people changed their minds or didn't meet the requirements, so I got in!!

My school won't even consider you for admittance if you are taking anything pre req... even if the class is complete before the program starts, if you are enrolled when the app is due (January for fall semester) then you might as well not waste the ink filling it out. This is a new rule, owing to the fact that there are SO many applicants (300 for 50 spots). Since the program is GPA based admittance (a point system) though how long it takes you to get admitted will depend on your grades. If you have above a 3.5 you'll probably get in on the first try, as long as you did better than a C in your sciences (because that is part of the points too), if you have lower than a 3.0 you'd better go ahead and apply somewhere lottery rather than try to get into this program...

The lottery school here are just that, and they can take forever. BUT if you have applied for four semester in a row (two years) then they will put you on a waiting list I believe. I do know people who have waited that long and are darn mad about it too!

Specializes in Surgical Services.

Applied in Fall '04 and started in Jan. '05. It is best if you guys get as many core classes out of the way that you can. I still have some core left, work full-time, have 2 children that live with me and we are in clinicals now 2 days a week.

All of this said....It will be worth it all next Sept. and EVERYONE will be invited.

I'm going through the frustration right now. I NEED A&P, but didn't get it. I only got 1 out of 3 classes that I wanted. And I even did early registration! They said A&P is now reserved for those that have already been accepted into the program. It's made me so mad that I am now going for the LPN program. I can always bridge over. I'm sick of the wait. I still need A&P for the LPN, but with the RN, I need A&PII. That would mean another 1 1/2 year wait.
