How hard is NCLEX compared to Kaplan?

You'll do fine if you're getting those scores on Kaplan. I thought Kaplan was harder than nclex... But don't underestimate the nclex by any means. You've studied you've down your best and have prepared you should be fine. But in my opinion Kaplan questions are harder and a little more tricky than nclex but there are still those tricky questions on nclex so I guess I'm saying don't let your guard down lol

Also the Kaplan setup of questions looks just like nclex... So I felt like I was doing Kaplan questions when I was taking the nclex

Thanks I don't intend to let my guard down by any means. This is the most important test I will take. I hope I can think through the questions and take my time so I can be done at 75. It just makes me feel better knowin that they are similar in difficulty. If I can pass Kaplan then I can pass nclex.

Don't anticipate stopping at 75. I had to take the ENTIRE 265 questions and passed. Just remember that if you keep getting questions, you're still in the game. I know some of my friends anticipated ending at 75 and when the computer kept going, they panicked and ended up failing. Just prepare to sit through the entire exam so you won't be surprised if it doesn't stop at 75. Wishing you the best!

Just keep doing questions and understand the thinking to get to the right answer.

The decision tree helps with the "who do you see first" questions.

infection control and room assignments are easy.

delegation as well.

the ones that vary in difficulty are the ones where you need to include the appropriate teaching.

questions like "which of the following would be the BEST teaching for this patient?"

these are your CONTENT questions.

you need a good base of content to answer these questions.

bc they'll give you a disease or medical procedure and you either have to include a specific patient teaching or correct the pt if they don't have effective understanding.

most are easy to get the right answer without seeing the content, but others you just have to do you BEST process of elimination (POE).

choose the the safest answer.

in pt positioning, think what you're promoting or preventing.

remember that most meds don't want dairy because it interferes with absorption.

taking meds on an empty stomach promotes better absorption.

psych drugs take at least 2 weeks to start working.

for me, general things like that helped for the most part.

when it came to content, some i knew.

but when it came to the ones i didn't, i just did my best POE.

understand and read EVERY rationale! i can't stress that enough!

look up every drug you come across.

review the content from questions you got wrong.

if you came across a question where you didn't know the content, but guessed right, still look up the content.

For those who have taken the test can you estimate how hard the exam was compared to other study tools such as Kaplan, Saunders, Lipincotts, etc? I am taking the test tomorrow. I have been doing good on all my question trainers for Kaplan (average score is 65%). I have been doing great on Saunders and I kick butt with Lippincotts. Are the NCLEX questions super hard or are they similar to one of the above programs.

Any advice from those who already took the exam and passed would help.

Did you do nclex 10,000 adaptive questions? Or 3500?
