Hi, I'm going to an interview and I've never been a hospice nurse. What are some ways I can impress
them and to also let them know that I have a genuine desire to step up to the challenge.
Any input would be great and hopefully soon ! Thanks so much.

read up on hospice...
be conversant with hospice philosophy, get a feel for symptom algorithms, be prepared to demonstrate that you can function autonomously (if it is a field position).
it is a great line of nursing if you are ready for it.

i work on a inpatient hospice unit ...one of the questions that the director ask me over and over was if i felt comfortable pushing large amounts of morphine...all of our patients have picc's or peripherals ....make sure you are comfortable with the the medications you will have to arrange for the patient; so when the questions about medications comes to the table during your interview you are ready to answer.....

How do you feel working in a hospice inpatient unit? I have dreamt of working as a hospice RN from the beginning. I graduate in May and have been working as a hospice LNA for the past year and love it. I don't feel comfortable to be a hospice nurse in the field yet, although I love home care, and wanted to start in an inpatient unit. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks so much for any input.
