I have been working in ICU (mostly cardiac) and let me give some advice: Whatever you do, stick out the year, then go do whatever else you want!
I'm actually going to have a baby this year and will probably go on disability soon, not sure if I will return to my floor or look for other opportunities (in this economy who knows?)
But I'm proud to say I stuck out a year in a hospital, oddly enough, the drs weren't what made the job hard. It's the other nurses. The ones who glare at you, act like you don't know anything. Scuffle off and say they're busy when you ask for help. I come from a team-player mentality. I believe if more nurses had that, the job would be so much better!
Anyway, that was my somewhat happy rant.
