How do other students or nurses feel about Nurses who are HIV + entering the field?
Do you think they pose a risk to their patients and/or other co-workers?
Do you think its a bad idea for someone who is HIV + or has Hepatitis C to become a nurse?
Thanks for your feedback!

If proper precautions are taken I don't see why it should be a bad idea. I think it would be discriminatory to not offer them the opportunities if they proved themselves capable ... just like the rest of us.
Interesting topic though.

I would think it would be more risky to have a HIV Pt. than it is a HIV + Co Worker. It's your Pt's that are going to be getting stuck with needles by you and stuff, you aren't going to be going around sticking your co worker. Not to mention, your working in a place where you assume everyone is contagious and take precautions for that. So if co worker who is HIV+ cuts themselves and starts bleeding, you should be taking precautions anyway.
I would have no problem with it and I don't think anyone should be informed or it should be anything that should even have to be disclosed.

If the nurse is competent then it should not matter if he/she has HIV. I'd be more worried about the patient who is HIV positive.
