Hello I wanted to ask if anyone got into a nursing program with a C+ in anatomy and physiology 2 The rest of my requirements are B's and B+ . I was also going to apply with a 58.7% on the tease exam . Do you think I have a good chance of getting in? Also would you guys recommend taking micro before the nursing program or after the nursing program ? I don't want to take it before the nursing program and get a C or something and I don't get accepted . But on the other hand people say to wait and take it while your in the program . What would be a smart move?

What does your school requirements? My school requires at least a 65% on the teas to apply.

As far as I know, even though your grades might be ok, but your TEAS score is way too low for you to be eligible. The schools I have researched in my state require at least 3.0 GPA and TEAS at or above 80%. As fas as micro goes, take it before the program. I have not heard a program that does not require a micro as a pre-req.

They require a 58.7 & yes I'll be retaking the teas . I'm just nervous about the micro, some schools let you apply w/ the micro and you can take the microbio after you get accepted. That's what I'm stuck on.

Where is your state , NY?

How do you get an 80% on the teas exam & has anyone every gotten accepted with a C+ in there science prerequisites?

Yes, I am from NY. I would suggest that you take micro now, before you apply. 1) it will be out of the way and once in the program you will solely concentrate on nursing courses, and 2) you will know more science that will help you with TEAS and in the nursing program.

As far as C + concerned, I have heard stories from people on this forum that they had, indeed, been accepted into the programs.

The answer to every one of your questions depends on the requirements of the nursing program you are trying to get into. Some schools have lower minimum requirements but the reality is that if there are applicants with higher grades and higher scores they will get in before you do. If the seats are all filled with people who have 3.3 or 3.5 GPAs, you won't get in. If there are fewer applicants to your school, you might. The minimum on the TEAS is also just a minimum, those who get a seat in the program are the strongest applicants. The exception to that is usually a for-profit, very expensive school that doesn't care what your grades and scores are like as long as you have a strong pulse and a working checkbook. Be careful of those!

Okay thank you so much ! Does anybody know how you study for the teas to get an 80? I'm going to start studying it today . If anyone has gotten an 80 on the teas can you let me know your studying method please ( :

I took my TEAS blind the first time and scored mid 70's. It wasn't competitive enough for the program. After I took it, I reviewed basic Algebra, sentence structure, and some random facts that I had seen on the test I didn't know about. (I had a question about rocks- I have no clue where that came from.) I would brush up on these and consider looking on the internet for a study guide- there are lots around. I ended up with an 87 the second time.

GOOD LUCK! :)

I think the big glaring thing in your messages is that you are trying to figure out how to get an 80 on the TEAS, and the TEAS is a test that shows if you have a minimum competency in high school subjects you would need in order to survive the college nursing program. You don't study to get an 80, you study to get a 100. You don't try to get the minimum you need, you are going to have to learn whatever it is you did badly in the first time, get the knowledge needed and for that you don't focus on the minimum, you focus on fixing the deficit.

Meet with a tutor, go over your scores, set up a plan, and learn the essentials that are needed to not just get into the program but do well once you're there.
