I work as a home health CNA. A patient of mine asked me how much I make and I stupidly told them without thinking! Should I say something to this patient and tell them not to say anything? Or should I just let it go and pray they don't say anything? I like my job and want to keep it! I'm scared my boss will find out and I'll loose my job!
Please Help!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It is what it is. in the future, you might just say, " Oh, enough for now" and change the subject. Really can't see why you should lose your job.....Relax!
Thanks Bedpan! That makes me feel much better! I'm really stressed about it! Like I said I really like my job. And for once in my life I feel like I'm doing something that makes me happy! I really enjoy the patients I take care of!

I would let it go. I'd be really surprised if you lost your job over it.

A lot of employers do have rules against discussing wages, so I wouldn't make a habit of answering these types of questions. But like the others have said, I can't imagine that this would cost you your job (unless you've had lots of other problems and they're just looking for any little misstep!).

Surely your patient won't go around discussing your salary with other people! It was really none of his/her business, anyway. Next time someone asks, just say "not enough!" and that would probably be the truth!
I haven't made a habit of discussing my wages with this patient or anybody else. Have you ever been in the middle of a task and somebody asks you a question and you answer really not thinking about it. Thats what I did. I've learned my lesson! I just don't know what to say to my boss if they find out. I don't have any problems my last review came back great and my boss said I was doing a great job.
