I only have a couple classes left before I can apply to the nursing program and was hoping to know if the CNA Program was worth it before applying to nursing school or if it was a waste of time

I wouldn't unless you wanted to work as a CNA while you're in nursing school.

Will you be working as a CNA? If not, it's a waste like a PP said. However, if you will be working as a CNA I believe it'll be invaluable. I worked at a nursing home for a year and have worked at a hospital for almost another year and I think it really helps me with being comfortable with basic cares and communication with patients and families.

Just stay away from for-profit nursing schools run by Education Management Corporation like South University. They have poor performance stats such as grad and retention rates and are very expensive. They are truly a spider to the fly operation with you, of course, playing the fly role. Look up all potential nursing schools at collegescotecard.edu.gov. Here you will find out what a farce their nursing schools are; but others you might like at the right price with records of helping the student succeed.

The shame is that these for-profit loan mills are aided and abetted by nurses themselves. So much for mentoring and collegiality when there's a buck to be made off a neophyte. Be careful and do your due diligence because once entrapped these people will have no mercy.
