Help! Scheduling Issue!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello All,

I have just completed my 2 weeks at Kaplan. I earned a 67% on their readiness test, which is considered a passing score for the NCLEX. My instructor has insisted that I take the NCLEX soon, before I go on a vacation (Jan 30-Feb 7). I can't find a testing center in CA with an open appointment until mid February. I really haven't begun to study much and was hoping to take the NCLEX on Feb 16. Feeling pretty discouraged about this. I scheduled this vacation with my husband so long ago and didn't think scheduling would be such an issue...errr! Any advice is welcomed =]

My advice is go on your vacation and study some more when you come back, make sure you feel prepared and when you come back from vacation you usually will feel much relaxed so it will be a good time for you to take the test. Good luck.

hm... i think you should take the test first... maybe if you're on vacation, you wouldn't really enjoy it very much coz of the big day that's fast approaching... :chuckle

An instructor cannot insist that you take your exam before your vacation if you cannot find a date for it. That is completely absurd and ridiculous. They can advise you, but they cannot insist or require that you do so.

If you have not begun to prepare in earnst and do not feel ready, then by all means go on your vacation and then do your review when you return. It can wait for you, but no sense in being stressed over anything at this point in time. Whether you take it a few weeks after you return, is your choice and should not be made by anyone for you. If you do not feel prepared, then now is not the right time for you to be sitting for it and then worrying about results while you are gone.

Go and enjoy yourself and then attack the review when you return.

Sorry that this instructor behaved like this as well.

hi! I would like to ask if there is a specific date for NCLEX exams in california or it varies upon your registration? I'm currently in a different country and I'm planning to take the nclex exams and not quite sure which place would be better (all requirements with me) Help please.

This is an old thread but scheduling all depends on where you are planning on sitting the exam and what dates are available. Dates are usually available for most of the time however if you plan on taking it outside the US you have to ring up to arrange date

Well, you can't schedule an appointment until one is available, so you have to work with the dates that are available. Use the extra time to study. Or look for an available appointment date in another city and travel to that city on the date of the test, that is your other option. You can also check back frequently to see if an appointment has opened up.
