help me out please!!

hi there,

i graduated nursing school this past semester and passed boards. however i can't work immediately. i am afraid that when i do start work i will have forgotten all that i learned. any advice on what i should do in the mean time?

You got that right.....one foot on the nursing unit will bring it alllllllllllll back for sure. :rotfl:

Relax and enjoy the break because it isn't often that you'll get a break once you do start working in nursing. :chuckle :kiss

How long do you think you will be out of nursing? I doubt you will forget much, but you will lose some confidence in your skills and that will add to new job jitters. If you are going to be out long, like months or years, an employer may get nervous about hiring you. I would definitely try to get involved in a graduate nurse program so that your transition is easier (assuming you work in a hospital). Meanwhile, challenge yourself with info on the Internet and subscribe to a nursing journal.

Heck I started work right away and felt like I forgot everything.

Relax, it all comes back to you. Bring some resources with you, like a good little med-surg or disease book and a medication book.

In orientation they will cover what you need to know. Just like riding a bike. It'll come back quickly. And, of course, there is no way you will have to know EVERYTHING! Heck, we'd all be fired if that were the case!

thanks to each and everyone one of you for all the encouraging words and advice.:) i am so grateful. i will definitely continue reviewing my text and this website. i think that this forum is the neatest thing ever. i especially love reading all your experiences at your new jobs and the neat things that y'all are learning. if you have any more advice for me please feel free to add on.
