HELP GUYS i don't know what to do next

Good day guys, I'm from the Philippines, last year I took the NCLEX-RN for the first time unfortunately I did not pass. It’s almost a year now since I've taken the exam, after receiving the results I took a break from studying, instead I've had some trainings and apply here as a staff nurse, since finding a job here in the Phils. is so hard because of the competition I didn't manage to have a job. I've been studying for the exam since July (on and off), sometimes I study sometimes I don't.

Recently I learned that the NCSBN (correct me if I’m wrong) will increase the passing standard from -0.21 logistic scale to -0.16 now -- do you guys know the equivalent of it in percentage? Do you guys think that it would be a lot harder than before? I'm anxious that if I didn't take the exam before April 1 I will really have a hard time passing this exam,

Because of that I'm now confused should I take the exam before April 1 2010 wherein the new passing standard will be implemented, even though I’m not yet prepared. Or just continue studying but this time more dedicated then take the exam whenever I feel that I'm ready? Thanks guys, this site really help a lot of people. I will really appreciate all your replies. :):)

Hi. If I were you I would attempt to take the test in the last week in March to avoid the new format. Just study relentlessly in the time remaining. If by chance you are not successful, then you will have plenty of time to get in tune with the new format. But hope for the best this time around. Good luck.

we are in the same boat kababayan, after weeks of thinking what to do... i finally decided to master the nursing content, then do lots of practice questions and take the exam may or june. because if i will concentrate on taking it before april 1 and im not ready it means i will fail, but if i will ready myself.. whatever format it is... i will pass...

Hi guys, rushing to take the test before it changes is not such a good idea, at least I don't think so. Test when you feel you are ready! I have checked the changes and compared the '07 percentages as far as questions and found Management of care have increased from 13-19 (07) to 16-22 (2010) and reduction of risk went from 13-19 (07) to 10-16 (2010). Yes it will be harder but concepts remain the same. :twocents: :banghead:. Good luck to everyone.

Silverdragon102,, can i also get your opinion? thanks!

A lot will depend on how you have been studying up to now, the NCLEX RN from April will be a little bit harder but if I remember 3 years ago when this change occurred previously the change wasn't as disastrous as people thought it would be. Rushing to sit the exam wouldn't necessary be good but at the same time cramming study isn't good and many never feel fully prepared for the exam.
