We just our 6th (I think) admission so far this month with HELLP/HUS/AFL spectrum illness. That for us is near a record. Is anyone else experiencing a "run" of these syndromes.

We always have lots, so I'm not qualified to answer! That's the NICU for ya. I do happen to think the IUGR babies that result from PIH/HELLP are extremely cute though...

Isn't it sad how we think these are the cutest babies? We recently had a 35 weeker who was maybe 1200 grams. Room air, doing great - just a tiny little thing. Gorgeous, perfect, miniature baby. I can't help but feel guilty for loving those little IUGR's so much!
Someone has to love those funny looking itty bitties Gompers:)

No run here. We are a fairly busy unit, averaging 100 deliveries/month. But, we still only see HELLP occasionally.
we are very busy also we average about 700 deliveries per month and approx.. 7,000 per year. i have seen alot of r/o pre e & pih but no one that is diagnosed with hellp yet.

We tend to have "runs" of "this week teen mothers-next week drug use-then blood transfusion week". We just take it in stride.

okay, so maybe we're not that busy. :chuckle
