Hello

:balloons: Hello,

I am newly registered in this forum.working as a nurse for a couple of years.currently i am in the final lap of getting my immigrant visa to U.S,attached with a placement agency named W.G in Brooklyn ,NEWYORK.Recently i received an updated contract from them which was very disappointing.i was already a signed party with this firm for 2 years&this new contract have some drastic changes from my previous contract.the amount i need to pay in the event of termination is three times higher when compared to the previous contract.I would like to know whether there is any set standards in NY state about how the placement agency need to charge their clientsif any of them break their contarct?until now my communication with them was smooth but now i am having second thoughts.did any one of you who is registered with this agency get the new contract?is there anything fishy?

thankyou

Unfortunately, there are many that are now drastically changing their cancellation fee, and they are now about $36,000 US. There is no way that I would tell someone to sign that. What happens if one of your parents became ill, and you needed to retunr home for a long stay? You would be resposible for that fee.

The can charge whatever they wish, and there are no set requirements, as long as someone is willing to sign it, then they can get away with it.

I do highly recommend that you bring it to the attention of the US Embassy in your country, as well as the Consulate for your country in the US. This is the only way that these practices can be stopped. It is one thing to have that in a contract from the very beginning, but to add it in two years done the road, is just unprofessional. They figure that they can get away with it.:( And even the Better Business Bureau ifor NY, as well as the Attorney Generals office there.
