Hello Micro!

Hello everyone!

Has anyone taken Micro lecture online and lab in the classroom? Because of conflicting schedules, I'm having to take the lecture and lab separate. My only concern is, with two different professors, will the lecture and lab be coherent with one another? Also, I've heard people say that micro online can be difficult, is it less difficult when taking lab in the classroom?

Thanks.

Personally, I dislike online classes. I have tried 3 of them, and just can't focus as well as if it's in a classroom. I took Micro last semester, so good luck, although I personally found it easier than A&P

I took a biology class with different instructors for lab and lecture and the material was cohesive between the two. My lab instructor was a much better teacher than my lecture instructor, which worked out really well because my lab instructor was able to help me easily understand concepts that I would've struggled with if only taught by my lecture instructor. Whether or not online micro will be difficult for you depends on what kind of student you are. I am very self directed and able to manage my time appropriately so I don't struggle with online classes. I took my entire micro class online, including lab, and did not find it to be exceedingly difficult.

The concepts in lab and lecture are really different, in my experience. They felt like two different classes completely. The lecture was focused on the history of Micro, drugs, categories of different bacteria, cells, etc. The lab was learning about isolating bacteria, identifying bacteria, and all the different testing that's done. I taken most of my classes online, just make sure you're focused and stay on top of what you need to be doing.

Thanks. I'm currently taking two online classes and it is tedious, but I getting through it.

I took Micro as a hybrid but it was the same teacher. I was dreading it as I am a nontraditional student and not sure how I felt about the online environment. I had A's in A&P 1-2 but they were regular classes. Can I just say the I really wound up enjoying micro?! I also found that being able to replay the lectures several times before exams was invaluable. I wound up with an A but put the work in for sure!

I found micro to be mostly memorization. I dont think you would have a problem with taking it online.
