HCC Spring 2017 Nursing Program

Anyone out there know if they are applying for the 2017 Nursing program for HCC (Hillsborough Community College)? I am! Just realized I want to do this so I'm taking A&P 1 and 2, microbiology, and sociology this summer. Apparently its called the crazy train! Anyone else doing something similar?

It's coming together for everyone. It's a crazy process, I have to laugh at myself sometimes at how panicky I get. So glad everyone's documents are appearing to put a little ease in the day.

Just keep yourselves busy guys ! We're almost to September already. We can do it

Omg I know but it's easier said than done hopefully I can though

I am the last three classes for my A.A degree Statistics, Chemistry and Human nutrition I have great professors that want to give extra credit so I'm sure I will pass with an A in all three.

I'm not . I have my associates but I did just get my pediatric first aid CPR AED from the heart association which I think is the one that is needed for the program ?

I should have taken classes to keep me preoccupied, lol.

Im not sure on the exact cpr class we need. ...

I mean the heart association CPR is the one needed to work in hospitals so I took my best guess . I need it for my job either way

Does anybody know when we should expect to hear from them? I checked the thread for last year's Spring applicants, and they heard the first week of September, but their applications were due about 2 months before ours were.

BelleLinda- You are one step ahead, awesome!!!

As for the timeframe... I think we should hear something by Oct. 1st.

On the facebook post, one of the applicants posted this morning:

Hey guys. I wanted to share something today, because a lot of us are all wondering about the same things. I went to Southshore campus today to inquire about a couple of things for clarification.

Right now the Allied Health is reviewing everyones records, its not a super fast process (they gave me the token yellow paper again with the process on it). When they go through all your stuff they screen our application to ensure we actually completed all required pre reqs (I guess some people actually apply and don't have everything completed), make sure you completed the TEAS and submitted your consent forms. Then put you us in order by GPA.

A lot of people are going into the progress towards degree and looking at the estimated completion date, and having a lot of anxiety about why this has not changed, and the completion date is this week (mine is the 3rd). So, I asked about that today. Your stuff under progress towards degree will not change to Nursing until you are actually selected and attend orientation and formally accept with the school. That estimation date listed has nothing to due with notification of selection. We all get notified the same time.

They basically in a very polite go pound sand way told me that the process does not happen over night and we have to be patient. I did ask about why some students are not showing any documents pertaining to the application process. I was told they are not complete with the screening so they will eventually show up, and will transition from under review to received.

Hope this helps a little. I found it hilarious with the eye rolls I got with my questions, I know they can't wait until its done too. They were polite but it was kind of funny.

Also, almost forgot the the CPR Class needed is BLS (Basic Life Saving) for Health Care Providers. I was told I could take it now, but it will run out before we are done with schooling so we would have to re-certify during the nursing curriculum. I'm just going to hold out .

Link for the Facebook page ?
