U.S.A. Washington DC

Hi Everyone!!!

I am about to apply to GWU's program! Does anyone know when we hear back by?

Hey Natalie. I got accepted for the Fall 2015 Veterans-BSN program already. I am not sure when you hear back for the Fall ABSN program. I believe they are on rolling admissions, but I am not sure?

i submitted my app in november;however, it took awhile for my application to get verified. couldn't post my essay, resent, and then made a correction as well. i've gotten an email saying my app is complete, that's it.

has anyone heard for GWU for ABSN fall?

I actually just submitted my application today! I wasn't going to apply initially but I decided to bite the bullet and apply. I went to GW for undergrad, so it wouldn't hurt to apply again!

@pinkeagle I'm actually a little confused. The graduate housing, Columbiac Plaza is it far from nursing school campus? NurSing school campus seems to be in Virginia....

lol HELL YEAH it's far!! Is that really the housing they have available for nursing students...oh GW! I know Columbia Plaza because some of my friends lived there and its on GW Foggy Bottom campus! No where near the nursing school!

Actually I don't think Columbia Plaza is official GW Housing, but is an apartment building many GW students live in. To my knowledge, the nursing school does not offer housing, due to its location. Your only options are to either commute or live in Ashburn, VA. There is a GW shuttle that goes from the Foggy Bottom campus to the VA campus. Fortunately for myself, I live on the same metro line as GW so if I'm accepted and decide to go, I will take the metro to GW and then shuttle to the VA campus. But be warned! These shuttles are not as frequent as other GW shuttles like the VernExpress!

@ PinkEagle . So therefore, would a daily commute from Columbia to the VA campus be a good plan and how long will it take? How often do the GW campus shuttles run? Clinicals can start very early and run until late? I would not want to live in the middle of nowhere because I heard the VA campus is old farmland.

@ PinkEagle . Going to GW will save more than 10,000 than Hopkins in terms of tuition. I believe GW also has a smaller cohort, about 60, but they do have classes w VBSN. Hopkins cohort is about 100.However, 90% of Hopkins takes place at their university hospital; it seems that GW placements are more scattered, which I am not fond of.

Here's the link for the shuttle: https://virginia.gwu.edu/sites/virginia.gwu.edu/files/downloads/OPER_1415_18_UpdatedVSTCExpressWiehleAveScheduleCombinedFeb2-2015.pdf

I can't really answer your questions because I have no idea where you are coming from and I can only speak of my particular experience. Also, keep in mind that I am making my own commuting possibilities prematurely because I don't know what kind of schedule students have. If it turns out that the clinical and classes do not coincide slowly with the shuttle schedule then I'll drive in. The shuttle can take UP TO 60 minutes and the metro ride is about 40 minutes. So it's quite a long commute but I wouldn't have to worry about paying for gas and I can studying during the commute.

Have you heard back from this program yet? I submitted my application around the same time as you and was just wondering! Anxious as I am sure everyone is!
