Just a quick question: Are there many group projects in NS? I have applied for a BSN program but was wondering about the typical assignment format. In my first degree program, nearly all my assignments were completed in groups . My husband is now completing his MBA and his entire program is group-based with few individual assignments. I really prefer to complete work individually. Will this be the case?

Depends on the program. We had some that were pretty good size chunks of our grade but we didnt have too many I would say.

I hope not. Ours aren't too bad, I had to complete 2 this quarter. They make me want to tear my hair out though, I hate them!!! I didn't have to do too many for my first degree, and I'm finding that I was lucky in that regard.

I'm just finishing my 2nd quarter and I've had 2 group projects total--not too bad.
I think group projects are only useful for learning how to deal with personality/work ethic conflict, because you know, there is always that one person in the group who seems to have an excuse for why they never finished their portion.

I'm with ya OP, I'm a GROUP HATER. Always feel group members keep me from showing how glorious I am. I'm just kidding.
NO I'M NOT.
Seriously, I plot ways for them to get Cdiff or Noro or something so I can do the project myself!!!
Yeah, that's right.

We do a group writing project each term. No big deal. One person asked me to work with her and then I asked another. We split up the assignment 3 ways and get in finished a week before it's due. One person puts it together and checks for APA writing standards. I've heard stories of other groups having one lazy member that screwed up their whole grade. Don't let that happen. If you have a loser who doesn't complete her/his part on time, complete the stuff and boot him/her out of your group.

This is my first semester and have a total of 6. And the group projects are going to continue for the rest of my program. It's an ABSN program btw.

:yeah: I love it! Oh, my gosh, this just struck my funny bone this morning...tears in my eyes from laughing. Perhaps I can relate a little too much...lol.
I despise working in groups. However, I knew I had to do it. Whenever I dread doing something...when I really, REALLY freak out at the thought of having to go through something... I just tell myself, "Too bad, do it anyway." Time passes on, the anxiety producing event passes and, BAM! you've knocked it out and can pat yourself on the back.
I never let my fear keep me from doing something I want to do, or need to do. I don't make excuses. I recognize that I'm freaking out over something, I may have to do certain things with white knuckles and tachycardia, but darn it, too bad! I do what I have to do anyway.
To the original poster, you will be fine. You may not enjoy it, you may lose sleep over it, but you can do it and it will all be ancient history before you know it.
