Great News,
I got my acceptance into Excelsior and now I am waiting to see if my classes will transfer. I have taken a bulk of the pre-reqs at my cc for the ASN program. I just need to complete my sciences. I am so happy I went thru with this decision to further my degree online. I have been stalking the EC threads for over a year and got the push when my co-worker broke the information down and told me how much she enjoyed it and of course the reviews here.
Thanks I will keep all updated!

Welcome. :)
Excelsior will take them all if they're recent, more than likely. And not so recent for non-sciences.

Congrats! I found the program very flexible and I was able to do it while working! I graduated Feb 20th. I am now a RN. You will get their to. Just stay motivated and keep pushing ahead.

I just met with the TCN rep (I know, I know, no TCN bashing please) I actually was thinking about going through ISU but he explained the Excelsior program to me and how much faster I can be an RN. I am still a little scared of the CPNE though!
The CPNE is very doable. There are workshops out there that can help you prepare. I went to one and it helped. There are videos and The EPN Chat board on their website is priceless. You gotta take time and learn your critical elements and practice your labs. You can find all types of stuff online including TCN modules for Excelsior for about $30-50 each vs $495 each.
NC Girl, did you use any of the TCN modules, did you like them? I am really leaning toward the excelsior program now. I like the idea of becoming an RN in 12 to 18 months rather than waiting 3 years, which I can finish the BSN in either way.
Their modules are just "ok". I used them as a resource. I bought the recommended text and bought EC practice test. I rushed through my test and completed them all in 6 months.(including 2 repeat test). I would not sign with TCN. Go to ebay and type in "College Network" and look at all the books that people are trying to sell for a fraction of the cost. You will not be sorry.
Thanks so much for the advice. I really appreciate it. I think I am going to do Excelsior and look around and see what kind of study material I can find. I still don't regret meeting with the guy. It was nice to have someone go through my transcripts and say, "here are the classes you need." I only need microbiology for Excelsior and then I can start the Nursing modules. So if I don't "enroll" in the nursing program until after my first nursing course (I get to skip health differences) I should only have to pay the $895 enrollment fee (ouch) and avoid the annual fees! I think that makes sense. My head is swimming but I am super excited!
Thanks everyone, I'm pretty excited. Scared about the CPNE, but I'll make it. Now about that enrollment fee, I was reading somewhere on the site that the fee would be 395, the whole amount would be waived for some reason. Just as I was getting into reading it my pc crashed suddenly so I couldn't remember how to get back. I'm gonna ask about it. I was about to enroll but was prompted to call because I am an Alabama resident with both Alabama and Georgia nursing licenses. States Alabama must meet certain requirements. Now, I do plan to move to Georgia next year and I am currently working as an LPN in Georgia. I hope it works out, I want to be an RN but can't commit to an on-campus program right now.
Ok update...I just sat down and went through all the textbooks that excelsior "requires and recommends" From the excelsior bookstore, you can get all the books (required and optional) brand new for right at $1200 as many used as possible for $985 or you can go on Half.com and get as many used as possible for $720! That's EVERY book, required and optional for all eight nursing courses...or you can buy the TCN books for $495 each brand new. I think I will be calling the TCN guy tomorrow and letting him know I can't afford going that way! :thnkg:
Be careful. TCN cannot evaluate your transcripts. They are not authrorize to tell you what EC will accept. FYI you do not have to take Microbiology before you get into the nursing program. You can enter the program and still have 10 hrs of prerequistes to take. I did micro last while waiting on the CPNE. Good Luck.
