Sad farewells to corrections for now. Leaving my correctional (maximum security) job to try to go back to hospital work because I feel I need to keep my skills fresh since we are moving to NC next year. Hospital nursing may be my best bet there. I did like corrections though and met some really nice people as well as some crazy ones....and I am talking about co-workers. :) Parting is such sweet sorrow......

I've found that the most important skill to have is the ability to deal with patients that no one else wants to, and you already have that .
Hoping the hospital works out for you. I understand how hard it can be to go back there, but you'll do great :).

Good luck with your move to NC. I heard that there are correctional nursing jobs available in NC. Someone told me that Raleigh, NC is looking for correctional nurses. Now that I work in LTC I miss corrections. Hope you will find a good job wherever you go.

awwwww.... I'm sure you'll find sth. in NC as well. Don't think you'll have any problem at all with that. And just think.. we'll be neighbors !
Wish you all the best with your move !
Thank you all very much! I guess I can pursue correctional nursing there also then. Great. :) I know I will surely miss corrections. Most of the CO's are really nice too. Even the inmates aren't that bad! LOL
Do you live in NC or some other nearby state, Jnette?

There are probably correctional nurses in most states...some maybe not like where you came from but just think what you can do to help them out. Corrections needs all the good nurses that we can and we hope that you stay with us no matter where you are...Let us know where you end up okay???

I to have recently left corrections, and miss it badly i was very appreciated there i felt unlike in free world when everyone is ready to sue you.
Legal issues are abundant everywhere. I empathize with that concern.
