Gift ideas....

This might belong under the students forum, but I wanted to put it where a lot of nurses would see it and hopefully give me their input.

I have a few more weeks left of my preceptorship for NS. I'd like to give my preceptor something to show my appreciation. Obviously, it can't be too costly; I'm thinking twenty dollars or less. One idea I had was a gift card for her favorite restaurant across the street, where she likes to get her dinner. Any other ideas?

I don't know if this is less than $20 or not, but maybe a book.... "Chicken Soup for the Nurse's Soul."

Gift cards are always a good gift.

A gift card is fine.

If you know what she likes, a gift basket with scented candle, soap, lotion, bath salts, etc; you can go to a store where everything is $1 and make it up yourself. Also you could add drink mixes, snacks, candy bars, and so forth if it's appropriate.

The thing that is mandatory is a card with a nice note!! That needs to be included no matter what else you give her. Think through what she's done for you that you really appreciate and include it in the note. It will mean more to her than you may ever know!

I always gave my teachers a Starbucks gift card inside a Starbucks travel mug. My teachers were always on the go and always had a coffee in their hand.
