Any advice out there? School has always been so easy for me academically but I guess the stress of life is much different now. I was working two jobs at the begining of the semester and fell behind. Now I am just not motivated to do homework and study even though I still want it. I might be just overreacting but it was hard coming from a 4.0 to this. I cannot concentrate, for instance I have been up all night to finish my clinical paperwork, ect. and have not done it, just thought about it while sitting here. It is due in the morning, any kind words of wisdom or insight. I am in a weird rut and doing care plans, diggining into pathos, determining why labs are messed up and writing nurses notes (which I am horrible at) is not motivating right now. Thanks

For me, the work itself was never the motivation, the end goal was the motivation. Sometimes I enjoyed the work but it often felt tedious and, even worse, like busy work. It may not feel like it when you're mired in it, but school will be over before you know it. Dig deep. Keep your eye on the prize.

I feel that way toward the end of every semester. Like I am dragging myself to the finish line. I never give myself a choice though. If something has to be done, then you dig your heels in, and do it. Refuse to quit. I feel like so much of getting through this program is just sheer will and determination, because I have been physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted for what feels like quite a while now, but we HAVE to reach our dreams. There is no choice. You just have to decide to do it and then follow through. Good luck! I know how hard it is!

A quick visit with a counselor can help you refocus and give you some very specific techniques to stay on the track you want now that you have sorta wandered away from it. Don't put it off. Your college health service can refer you-- believe me, they have seen this before and want to help you.
