Yes, just do the clinical hours and you will have your license. I was in the same boat as Gemini79. I had to do 500 hours and my hospital let me do my clinical hours there. I will be done on monday!! Thank God. Consider working at a hospital and talk to them about doing the clinical hours.

I've called or written every local hospital with no luck. What hospitals in Ga even hire LPNs? The last email I got from the GBON stated there "might be a place in Griffin". The board of nursing doesn't even know!

I worked at a hospital in Carrollton which is west of Atlanta that employed LPNs. If I was still working there when I finished EC my nurse manager would have gladly set up my preceptorship to keep me there as an RN. I'm sure there are lots of others, just not in Atlanta. There is a hospital in Gainesville that hires so many EC grads that they sent a representative to the meeting with the GBON and EC last year to fight on our behalf -- I know because I went to the meeting. If you want to stay in Georgia I believe you'll find a place. Just keep looking. Good luck.

Oh yeah, P.S. - Don't forget, the BON tried to have us all banned. I'm not sure I'd call them for any help as they probably aren't going to go out of their way to assist you, if you know what I mean.

I DO know what you mean. I even wrote the Secretary of State's office and all they did was forward my letter to Sandy Bond. I start orientation at my N. Carolina job tomorrow and I'm happy with that, but I still feel like I've been slighted. I passed my boards for Minnesota 3 days BEFORE the GBON announced that EC grads could now test for Georgia. There should be provisions for people in my situation.

Even if these preceptorships existed, I wouldn't do it. I did the book work, passed the clinical, and passed the National licensing exam. I've worked as an LPN for over two years and I hold an RN license in two states...and still somehow I'm not good enough to be an RN in Georgia?

Hendersonville. Just because I have family to stay with there. I may end up in Raleigh come the middle of next year just because it's a bigger city and my hubby will be able to find a job easier there.
