GCCAZ CEP Program 2017

Hey! So I just applied to the nursing program and I have been literally praying everyday! I'm so nervous to see if I got in or not and if I got my first choice! Is anyone else feeling this anxiety? I also don't know if i have even a shot at getting in because of my HESI scores. Long story short I got a cumulative score of 94 and It sounds good to the average person, but the counselors said they want to see 97's, 98's and so on.

Anyway, I just wanted to start this thread to see if anyone else out there applied or is going to apply and could use a little pow wow to talk it all out! Also when you get your email, let us know so that we can be here for you or congratulate you, as I know the first place i'll come crying to if I don't get in, or singing if i do, will be here, and a sista would love the love haha!

Positivity to everyone, and hello to the nursing fam!

Your are very competitive, my HESI was only 89 and my GPA was mid 3's, I did have a previous bachelors, so, your stats sound very promising & competitive. Good luck, please let us know how it goes!

Thank you very much! If I don't get in, I will end up going to Chamberlain. I'd rather not go to a for-profit school, but I am pushing 30 and will have 2 kids before I know it. I don't have a whole lot of time to sit around and continue to reapply every semester. Fingers crossed, and thank you for the positive vibes!

I wouldn't let being almost 30 sway your decision to go to a for-profit. Loads - and I mean loads - of people enter nursing much older than this. Me, for example! I'm doing the Community College route, and I'm in my mid-40s. If I don't get in, I'll keep on trying until I hopefully do! I wouldn't saddle myself with $100K in student loans, I'd rather wait.

I'd really rather not go there, but with the amount of transferable courses that I have taken, and the amount I would receive in pell grants, my total would end up costing around $40,000. Not ideal, especially compared to an amazing $11,000 program. However, if I don't get in with a 4.0 gpa, an AA, AGS, AGEC-A, and hopefully higher than 92 (after retake) on my HESI, then I almost feel like there would be nothing more that I could do to win them over. The advisor that I met with kind of freaked me out because she said that more and more people are applying for the CEP (from all over the country), and they received over 300 applications this past application session (summer). Some of the applicants even had PhD's, and others had masters degrees. I guess I am just letting the stats stress me out, even though I won't be putting in my application until December. I definitely do not want to jump the gun and do something that I'll regret (in regards to Chamberlain), but the thought of not getting accepted in the CEP makes me start to feel a little discouraged (I may be a bit of an over-analyzer).

There was a lady in my class who was in her 60's, so pushing 30 is nothing.

No kidding. I'm applying with a 4.0 and they said a 90 on the HESI wasn't competitive enough.
