FSW Spring 2018

It's a bit early, I know. I just wanted to start a thread for all of those looking down the road planning to apply to FSW this fall for the spring 2018 program start..

I'm planning on applying to the Charlotte campus for the Evening/Weekend (ANEW) schedule format.

What campus are you planning on applying to?

What classes are you trying to finish up before applying in Sept/Oct?

What program schedule format will you be choosing (Daytime or evening/weekend)?

Did you take the TEAS VI exam and how did you do?

I look forward to the discussion over the next few months!!

Futurebsn955, I wouldn't worry so much about the number of applicants that didn't make the cut. 143 had points less than 59. Scoring above that is doable. That's just my opinion.

Sorry lol. Are you aware that you now have to have A&P2 for spring 18? I'm unable to get in now. Might catch up with you'll at the top

Are you sure? I remember being told that as well when I emailed the director about a year ago. Which is why I chose to get A&P II finished before applying. I wonder why they haven't updated that requirement on their information page and why they haven't wrote (REQUIRED) next to A&P II like they did beside A&P I and Statistics on the Entry level tally sheet....

Yes that's a good point. There are some lower numbers there that still managed to get in so even if someone is in the high 60's to low 70's it could definitely be competitive enough.

Also, keep in mind that there was no ANEW schedule class starting this fall but there will be one starting in Spring 2018 which means there will be more applicants accepted. The 3 daytime classes and at least one ANEW class, maybe more.

Thanks for the information guys. I plan on applying to other schools, but FSW is still my top 5. Do you guys prefer one campus over the other?

I prefer the Charlotte campus since I live in Port Charlotte, but I'm willing to stretch to the Lee campus as my second option if I get accepted.

What other schools are you applying to futurebsn955?

Weiny4089,

Thank you for adding onto that. I didn't realize the Anew schedule was not effective for this upcoming Fall.

Futurebsn955,

I live closer to Lee, my first choice. However, I wouldn't mind the commute to Charlotte and Collier.

Ya I guess they decided not to have an ANEW class for the fall 2017 semester since they are having one this summer. The director at the Charlotte campus told me that as of spring 2018 they will have an ANEW class every fall and spring semester along with the regular classes (no summer class any more from what I understand).

Also, on another thread a current student in the program at FSW told me that all students who don't have English Comp. completed upon being accepted will be required to complete it during the first semester of the program along with the nursing program classes. Something to keep in mind...

I just heard back from one of the program directors. For the summer semester they received 7 applications for the ANEW class at the Charlotte campus but the minimum number in order to hold at class at Charlotte is 12, so those applicants were added to the Lee class if they chose it as their second option. I really hope that more people apply for the ANEW schedule at Charlotte for spring!! In theory, I would assume that anyone who would like to attend the Charlotte campus may have a better chance of getting accepted if they apply to the ANEW schedule, since they receive fewer applications compared to the regular schedule.

What other schools are you applying to futurebsn955?

I currently live in Orlando, but I'm willing to relocate. The schools I'm applying to are UCF, Seminole State College ASN-BSN concurrent, Polk State College, Valencia ASN-BSN concurrent, FSW, and Daytona State college so far. I have been searching for schools that doesn't require chemistry since I haven't taken it (Orlando schools simply suggest chem but not required). I'm applying to all of these schools, because I believe my gpa is average 3.3-3.4 (two classes in progress) and I haven't successfully taken the TEA's yet. I want to start nursing school Spring 2018, but its so hard to get in :(

Anyone else applying to other schools?

I've applied to Seminole State College, but was unable to apply to the program due to me taking thetest past the deadline, Hillsborough Community College. And, I've applied to Polk State College.

Futurebsn955,

It helps that you are able and willing to relocate. I'm confined to my area, and since I will be a stay at home dad while my wife works during the day I am dependent upon the evening/weekend schedule format. Since FSW is the only school that offers it in my general area it is the only school I am applying to. I'm actually quite thankful that I have it as an option so close to home.

What resources have you been using to study for the TEAS?

I have been using the ATI TEAS® Secrets Study Guide from Mometrix, but I'm focusing on completing this semester and will take it early August. I took the TEA's to see what it's like (some recommend that and some people don't) and I scored in the 60's. My goal is to score in the 80's. The science in my opinion was hard, and the English was tricky. I failed to take a 10 minute breather in between, and noticed I started off strong and started getting tired once I got to the science portion.

I've read so many study tips on how people scored close to the 90's, but that requires weeks of studying. I plan on studying two weeks before taking the TEA's again.

Any study tips?
